Hp procurve is selling networking products at 30-40% less than Cisco products and offering a lifetime warranty. This has gotten noticed by Cisco and many people feel this is a very real threat to Cisco. There has been talk about Cisco vendors matching prices with HP Procurve on certain deals so as not to lose customers.

Cisco channel partners confirmed that the practice is taking place and ProCurve executives confirmed this. Many insiders feel that HP ProCurve is more of a challenge than Cisco has faced in a long time. This due to the fact that HP is such a large company and has many resources to fall back on. Extreme and Foundry were not as much of a threat because of their limited resources to contend with a much large company such as Cisco.

"We want to make sure the IT buying world is aware of this," said Karl Soderlund, general manager and vice president for the Americas at ProCurve.
