When used with the VPN Module, Cisco 1700 Series routers provide hardware-based encryption offering line-speed VPN performance up to full-duplex T1/E1 speeds and up to 100 VPN tunnels.

For voice applications, Cisco 1700 Series routers support analog and digital communications, allowing them to work with the existing telephone infrastructure, while providing easy voice-over-IP (VoIP) and IP telephony deployments.
